Otto Laue started his violin workshop in 1939 as a highly skilled violin maker. His son, Helmut Laue, followed and ran the workshop since 1968.
After Helmut Laue reached retirement age in 1995, his nephew Uwe Fischer, who had early decided to learn the art of making violins, took over the workshop.
Fischer had studied at the famous Violin Makers' School in Mittenwald (Staatliche Fachschule fÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂür Geigenbau) and passed his exam to become a journeyman in 1987. In 1993, Uwe Fischer took his master craftman's diploma in DÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂüsseldorf.
